Ra, first thank you so much for those links to BBC.  Also; just listened to Julian Lennon interview where he talks about the Walls & Bridges album. He played on the track Ya Ya.  I interviewed Julian when I was at CKFM about that experience.

Of course I interviewed John on CHUM-FM when the album came first came out.  My eternal thanks to Ronnie Hawkins who told Lennon I was the one to interview him in Toronto. Lots of memories flooding back this morning.   Thanks again.

CTV channel 8 is back.....sort of.  First of all the wrong program is on according to Rogers Navigator and the screen is split in two.  Main characters in middle to lower screen.  There torsos are up above separated by a black line.  Very strange.  I guess they are working on it.......sort of.

I must admit.  After all my years in radio I have never heard the term, "hobbyists" radio stations.  No in fact i was referring to REAL radio stations just like we have in Toronto and I by the word diversity?  I travel mostly in Mississippi and Louisiana.  That's where you can hear all BLUES stations, Classic country, R&B, Cajun, too many to mention.  I realize it has a lot to do with the geography.  Also in the Carmel area of California and also that of the Sonoma valley.

I would still like to hear an Americana radio station in Toronto.  I've been told it wouldn't work by someone  I really respect.  However; I still think it would.  It's why I love many U.S. markets when I travel.  It's the diversity they have.  Us?  Not so much.

LOS ANGELES – Since her debut album arrived in 1968, Joni Mitchell’s songs have been embraced across generations, inspired multitudes of artists around the world, and earned every conceivable accolade. She is now opening her vault for the first time to create the Joni Mitchell Archives, a new series of boxed set releases that will span the next several years, featuring deep dives in to unreleased content from different eras of her storied career.Mitchell has been intimately involved in producing the archive series, lending her vision and personal touch to every element of the project.

The series debuts on October 30 with JONI MITCHELL ARCHIVES VOL. 1: THE EARLY YEARS (1963-1967), which features nearly six hours of unreleased home, live, and radio recordings that flow chronologically to paint a rich portrait of Mitchell’s rapid growth as a performer and songwriter during the period leading up to her debut album. This treasure trove of unheard audio includes 29 original Mitchell compositions that have never been released before with her vocals. The collection will be available as a deluxe 5-CD set as well as digitally. Available for download now is her earliest known recording of House Of The Rising Sun. Recorded at a radio station in Saskatoon.

Just a small piece of trivia regarding Lucille Starr.  The French Song was produced by Mr. A&M himself, Herb Alpert.  It was only the 2nd record he produced after The Lonely Bull.  Both recorded in a garage before the studios were built.

I’m impressed she did the yodel on Beverly Hillbillies.  Bea Benadaret was a great comedic actress,  First saw her as the neighbour on the Burns and Allen Show.  She was also the voice of Wilma on the Flinstones. .

unclefester.  Found this, this morning on Wikipedia.  "Lucille Starr (May 13, 1938 - September 4, 2020) was a Canadian Franco-Manitoban / British Columbian singer, songwriter, and yodeler best known for her 1964 hit single, "Quand Le Soleil Dit Bonjour Aux Montagnes" ("The French Song").

I grew up; on my Mother's side; in a French Canadian family.  Every Christmas as all the relatives would gather, my cousins (with great voices by the way) and my Aunt would break into The French Song by Lucille Starr.  I hear that she has passed away; on Friday.  Always loved that song.

It's really very sad.  I interviewed him once; on CFRB and in my intro I took a chance by saying this cold into the interview.  "Larry King you're on the air!"  He responded immediately with, "John!  Long time listener, first time caller."  He was and remains very sharp.  Losing a child is terrible, but 2?  Very Sad.

Yes Fitz.  I came to CKFH in September of '67; from Oshawa.  I got hired in March of '71 at CHUM-FM by Bob Laine; replacing my hero Rainer Schwarz.  In '72 I got moved to afternoons when David Marsden came in to take over my 10pm to 2am shift.  My early days and evenings at CHUM-FM were  the most creative, crazy and fun times of my career.  The interviews were indeed the highlight.  Imagine David Pritchard coming in a 2am and watching the genius at work.  Everything off the top of his head.  I still miss him.
I wish everyone could experience that kind of radio.

I have to say that I really love the Stingray app.  I love the diversity.  It is weird though that my wife can get a channel on her app called Classical Calm and I can't get it.  Doesn't make sense.  However channels dedicated to instrumentals of the 60's to 50's singers and The British Invasion of the 60'. I could go on.  Thank you Stingray.  My only wish is that I could talk to them.  I read that only if your a business can you get in touch with them.
