Somewhat off-topic but one of my professional peeves is the tendency of some in an employment situation to slack off after giving notice. I was once badly screwed over by a co-worker who gave her two weeks and then just stopped showing up after four days (she was a production manager who didn't leave notes on the upcoming projects to which was assigned - projects occurring before her quit date).

Even the old ghosting at noon on the last Friday bugs me. I haven't quit many jobs but I've made it a point to work at full output until the end (if only to set some kind of example).

Like in Soylent Green? Cool! I found recently that Twitch TV has a variety of 24/7 streaming channels for shows like Iron Chef and MST3K. I shoudl've put that stuff on when I could.

Did you consider buying her a Netflix subscription or taking a DVD + lunch from a nearby delicatessan and arrange regular drop-in visits from her church or other old circle of friends, to ensure that her brain was regularly exercised?    Or was it left to nursing home staff to keep her intellectually stimulated?

We had her in a private assisted living facility for a short while before discovering that 1) the care was entirely inadequate for the staggering cost; and 2) she hated it, so home she came. Yeah she had a roku with Netflix, youtube and dozens of other channels but was too infirm to control it - and I don't know if you've had experience with PSWs these days but they aren't precisely the sharpest tools when it comes to anything remotely electronic or mechanical.

Wouldn't hurt them to have a 680 News-style disclaimer encouraging viewers to tune in sparingly.

If it were up to me, I'd have them add the following copy to their crawl at the end of every loop: 'Caution: Prolonged exposure to CP 24 may be harmful to your health."

My mother-in-law passed away shortly before Covid hit (merciful considering she was bedridden and almost entirely dependent on PSWs, but that's another thing).

As her brain turned to a shit slurry she had a TV on in front of her tuned 24/7 to CP24 (at her insistence). I firmly believe it accelerated her decline.

Talk radio can indeed lead to success in politics. He may well be a future Mike Pence of some fresh sovereign territory.

The funniness ebbs and flows. But some facts are glacial in their clarity - Fear was the best musical guest and Wayne Gretzky was the unfunniest guest host.

I posted about this on an earlier incarnation of this board. It's an interesting station. Additional weird radio worth listening to: The Conet Project.

I recall that there was a bingo caller on CNN with a doozy of a fake name - 'Willow Bay'. Sounded like a retirement villa or a timeshare scam.

I've noticed recently that news media is mentioning subway jumpers as well: "injury at track level". I don't recall that being reported on in the past.

On a vaguely related note, I was watching one of those 'Hoarders' shows this week - to my bemusement they had commercial breaks. What entity in their right mind would want to shill crap people don't need on a show about the results of people overloading in crap they didn't need?

No. My money goes to non-profit campus/community stations trying to stay afloat. The medium wasn't invented for people to get rich, as most commercial radio employees quickly discover.

Those of the investor class who freely and advisedly chose to speculate in radio for profit will reap the successes or deep throat the failures.
