Apparently you can. I just heard Alex Pierson shilling for the prized pillow product.

I really wonder - do all the radio personalities who tout the life-changing benefits of this thing actually have to use it to do their ads? If so, it must be the most tested commercial item in history.

Isn't there a law that states people doing such testimonials about how their lives have been changed by some product are actually required to really use it as they say? Or is that just literary licence?

My Pillow is also one of the view products still buying ads on Tucker Carlson's show

Levitt is also handling the wingnut libel cases of Lindsay Sheppard and Jordan Peterson. I guess this goes to show that if you want to sue for defamation and don't have a leg to stand on, go to an employment lawyer.

She's a huge hypocrite. She's against social programs and government spending except when it comes to spending for autistic children. Why? Because she has an autistic child. While I support such spending I'm disgusted by people who are against social programs except when it personally benefits them. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/tasha-kheiriddin-why-is-ontario-refusing-to-help-autistic-children

You think the Star should terminate the cartoon, over what seems to have been the first such misstep by a cartoonist in 27 years, because of a single complaint? That's kind of harsh. This isn't radio or TV where swearing might result in losing your license (and even in radio, I don't think a single swear word would result in that). It certainly isn't the first time the word "fuck" was printed in the Toronto Star - though it probably is a first for the funny pages.

Nope.  Never said I would dump the strip over a stupid vulgarity that got through.

So you too "would let it slide"? Don't really see what you're complaining about then

The Toronto Star has always been a Liberal paper (though they have endorsed the NDP twice). Most famously, on the day of the 1948 general election, the Star ran the following banner headline: "KEEP CANADA BRITISH, DESTROY DREW’S HOUDE, VOTE ST. LAURENT" - though some editions had "GOD SAVE THE KING" (Drew being Tory leader George Drew and Houde being Camillien Houde, the mayor of Montreal and Drew's presumed Quebec lieutenant).

Yes, unlike our Premier, I did. Not only that, I finished university too. That's why I'm able to spot a double standard from a mile away. Now, of course, if you are as quick to condemn right wing outlets such as the Sun or Fox for their fixation on Trudeau or Obama as you are to condemn the Star and others for condemning Trump, then please proceed with your criticism of the Sun, as well as conservative talk radio.

BTW, while all newspapers are suffering from declining circulation, the Toronto Star's circulation remains the highest in Canada and greater than the Sun and Post's circulation combined.

Hm, so if the Star has a pathological hate for Trump (I believe the term "Trump Derangement Syndrome") does that mean the Sun has Trudeau Derangement Syndrome and Fox News et al had Obama Derangement Syndrome when he was president?

Don't most North American FM tuners start at 88? Would they receive a station at 87.5? I do remember though that I used to be able to listen to Global TV on FM when they used Channel 6, on some FM receivers at least.

As part of Ford's reforms of post-secondary education is a measure to make student ancillary fees for campus services optional, unless they are "health and welfare" programs:

"As part of a package of post-secondary reforms announced Thursday, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities Merrilee Fullerton said Ontario's college and university students will be paying 10 per cent less in tuition and that most student fees — which can add up to $2,000 each year — will no longer be mandatory.Students won't be able to opt out of paying for campus programs that affect health and wellness — such as athletics or a walksafe service — but there will be some flexibility for institutions on whether LGBT supports remain a part of the mandatory ancillary fees students pay on top of tuition, Fullerton said."

It sounds like mandatory student fees for campus radio stations are going to be opt-outable beginning this fall. Since the budget of every (or virtually every) campus station in Ontario is overwhelmingly made up by student fee revenue with much smaller shares coming from advertising and donations it looks like campus stations will either have to seriously ramp up their advertising and fundraising revenues or be financially crippled.

This used to happen more frequently. As I recall, in simsub situations with pre-recorded programs the Canadian station usually proceeds with scheduled program. If they are simulcasting a live program they usually run a substitute like an old rerun or something else taken off the shelf. They would usually only simulcast the Presidential broadcast if it was a true international emergency such as Bush the Elder's broadcast as the US invasion of Iraq began or maybe smaller military actions like the invasion of Panama or Grenada or historic events such as Nixon's resignation but not as I recall for smaller domestic crises.

I believe if you are unhappy with the CBSC's decision you can still escalate to the CRTC and of course one can also send interventions at license renewal time, which should get the station's attention.
