Re: Scholes gone from Q -- Will he continue to host the Expert Hours?

It's been confirmed, he's "hosting" the shilled hours on part-time station, GNR640.  What a slap in the left testicle. What's next? A "patient" of Dr. Ho? Maybe he'll be a Harvey Brooker slimmer? Or one of the 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 houses Leo sold just since the beginning of this sentence? Maybe he'll be mentioned during The Butcher of English, Tom, as one of his morbidly obese sloths buying a quarter acre of fabric, fashioned into an overpriced suit.......... Sierra Sil, anyone?

You know, those ads do pay the bills but you forget one thing.  Did you ever watch BPM TV?  Or have you ever watched APTN TV?  Both were/are filled with "shill ads" the reek of desperation in getting some advertising money.  It's not about gutter business paying for advertising..it's about how it reflects on the product in general.  You're never going to hear "This hour of Jazz is brought to you buy Itchy the Surrey Hooker on Jazz FM 91".

I'm not marketing specialist but building a brand *is* about presenting that brand as a certain level.  Apple doesn't sell cheap phones.  BMW doesn't sell discount cars.  AM 640...well....

There's a saying about hockey coaches in the NHL, that the day a coach gets hired, he knows it's just a matter of time until he reaches the day he gets fired, usually to buy the GM a few more years.

In some ways on-air people are like hockey coaches. PD's are the GM's of radio, it's easier to fire someone, or a bunch of someones, and buy yourself some time, than admit that your station needs a rebuild.
