Re: CKNT

Interesting. On his Facebook page, he also notes that they'll be starting busback ads on, I can only presume, Mississauga Transit. What I'm not sure is who's paying for the campaign - him or Sauga 960? Either way, if you're out that way, you may soon be seeing them.

Re: CKNT

It looks like the show is going to be live steamed on the Amazon-owned Twitch TV once the new studio is ready.  It will be interesting to see if The Spin with Barry Davis lands on Twitch as well.

I am guessing that Mike is paying for the ads because it likely means he owns the show if it is being broadcast on different platforms.

Who is doing the traffic? Skywords??

Will the traffic reports from WFIR for Roanoke-area roads, such as I-581 and Franklin Road, be of any use to the commuters of Mississauga?

Yes, but only if the Mi-way buses pass through there, especially if a sudden bus accident were to happen...
(hopefully not, but you never know!)

Mississaugans might prefer traffic reports from Shawano Wisconsin or Shenandoah Iowa. Or maybe an update on the  Calgary Flames.

Re: CKNT

If Mississauga secedes from Peel region, will CKNT have to reduce its signal coverage?

Re: CKNT

Website stats that it is still under construction...

Any word on where this new studio is located ?

supplementary question...  is this "new" studio not actually the fourth studio? (first studio somewhere in Mississauga, second studio in Port Credit, third studio in Etobicoke...)

Re: CKNT

The preceding comments illustrate the challenge that Mike Richards faces in his attempt to maintain his career in talk radio.  In less than a year, CKNT has become such a laughing stock that I wonder if he really benefits from airing his show on a station with such a bad reputation.  I often wonder if he would do just as well financially by only appearing on Twitch TV and iTunes.

Maybe its an attempt on his part to rehabilitate the station and make chicken salad out of chicken feathers.

Re: CKNT

A lot of the questions you all have can be answered by actually, I don't know, *listening* to the shows? Mike and Dave do the traffic during their show and it's surprisingly well done and detailed west end traffic. They have a sales team and a growing amount of sponsors. The show is good. Really fun to listen to since they are their own bosses, as stated on their show.

Wouldn't you have to, to properly judge and criticize it? Otherwise, you would be speaking out of your rear.

Patrone's show is heavily Conservative, to the point of making Conservatives look bad, so this isn't surprising. I'm not a fan of Marc but I will have to listen in to this one. Very curious.

I have listened to The Spin with Barry Davis on occasion and I like it.  And I am sure The Raw Mike Richards show is good, too.

Unfortunately when a station gets off to such a rocky start, it becomes a write-off in the minds of the few listeners that actually tune in and negative comments on social media, are of no help, either.  It takes a long time for even really good broadcasters to improve a poor reputation.

Rear speaking here: "Actually, I did listen for long enough to choose to stop listening".

Re: CKNT

More non-renewable energy has been used for this thread than the namesake station has burned for broadcasting.

The way things are now, it is possible for them to reduce their coverage so that they don't reach Brampton or Caledon?     Does their signal even reach Caledon now?    At night the Cuban Radio Reloj probably has more listeners in Bolton and Palgrave than CKNT does.

I wonder if the Reloj teletype and time pips (or whatever they are) cut into the signal as close as Square One?

Re: CKNT

Marc Patrone has been going on this morning about the Notre Dame fire being an act of God to return people to faith and then began yelling about Christians being "the most persecuted group in the world." Interesting take...

Re: CKNT

I just heard Patrone admit to a listener - yes there are some! - that their studios are located in Etobicoke. Not a great symbol for a Mississauga station!

He also confirmed that their very first real advertising campaign - those bus back ads - will be rolling out next week. If you live in the area, you should be seeing them soon. Not so sure if they'll turn up in Etobicoke, though...

Re: CKNT

I'm pretty sure they're broadcasting out of Sur Sagar studios at 130 Westmore Dr in North Etobicoke.

Sur Sagar is owned by Ravinder Singh Pannu.  I think his daughter, Joty Pannu, is the GM for CKNT
